ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Educational Foundations Department endeavors to promote excellent teaching and learning through the production of knowledgeable and culturally-oriented teachers.  The Department offers postgraduate programmes like Master of Education Early Childhood Development, Master of Education Psychology, Master of Education Philosophy, Master of Education Sociology and Post Graduate Diploma in Higher and Tertiary Education.  In undergraduate programmes, the Department teaches Bachelor of Education Honours Early Childhood Development Pre-Service, Bachelor of Education Honours Early Childhood Development In-Service, Bachelor of Education Honours Educational Leadership and Management, Bachelor of Education Honours Sociology, Bachelor of Education Honours Psychology, Bachelor of Education Honours Philosophy.

A Certificate or Diploma in Education or any other qualifications acquired by a candidate that may be approved by Senate

Bachelor of Education in Educational Leadership and Management (Honours) Degree [BEd. ELM Honours] -Two and half (2½) years Block Release

At least five (5) ‘0’ level subjects including English language. A pass at ‘A’ level is an added advantage;

Diploma in education, a teaching degree, or any other relevant qualification.

At least two (2) years post qualification experience in a relevant field.

Master of Education Psychology/ Sociology/ Philosophy -Two (2) years Block Release A Bachelor of Education degree of this University or such degree from a recognized institution with a minimum pass of lower second (2.2).
A degree and a Graduate Certificate in Education of this University or approved equivalent with a minimum pass of lower   second.
Master of Education Early Childhood Development -Two (2)years Block Release A Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Development with a minimum pass of lower second (2.2)
A minimum of one (1) year experience in approved educational work.
Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher and Tertiary Education (PGDHTE) -One (1) year including six (6) weeks of internship in the second semester Degree in any discipline from a recognized university and teaching related experience in higher and tertiary education
