Research & Postgraduate Studies
The Research and Post Graduate Studies Office was established at Great Zimbabwe University to contribute towards the fulfilment of the University’s vision, mission and Strategic Plan Objectives. It seeks to realise its mandate by coordinating and administering all research, and implementing an integrated post graduate training system. Currently, the office is manned by a Director, an Assistant Registrar and a Chief Secretary.
Prof. P Gwirayi
CE [UZ, 1990]; BA Sociology & History [UNISA, 1999]; M.Ed Sociology [UZ, 2001] PhD [UFH, 2011]
Prof Gwirayi’s publications include many articles in peer reviewed journals and book chapters. He is author of ‘Sociology of Education an Introduction’ which is widely used in teachers’ colleges and universities in Zimbabwe.

Prof Gwirayi’s experience spans more than 25 years, covering primary, teacher and university education. He is the founding Director of the Research and Postgraduate Studies Office, which was established in 2013.
To be the centre of excellence in research and post graduate studies in Arts, Culture and Heritage, as well as other programmes that promote the advancement of knowledge through research and learning, as mandated by the Great Zimbabwe University Act.
To coordinate, monitor and create an environment conducive to quality post graduate training, research growth and communication of the research outputs, in order to meet the changing needs of society and for sustainable development.
