Prof Marian Tukuta

An esteemed scholar and academic leader with a Full Professorship in Supply Chain Management, Professor Tukuta brings a wealth of experience in higher education management.
Professor Tukuta earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Supply Chain Management from Fort Hare University, South Africa.
In addition, she holds an MPhil in Logistics (UJ), an MBA (Open University), and a Bachelor of Business Studies Honours degree
(UZ). Her academic qualifications are complemented by a range of distinguished diplomas, including those in Human Resources
Management (IPMZ), Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), Information Technology (Speciss College), Interpersonal Skills and Public
Speaking (Harvard University, USA), and Management of Higher Education (Harvard University, USA).

Professor Tukuta has made significant contributions to academia, with 65 publications in prestigious international, double-blind peer-reviewed journals. She has authored several books and presented numerous papers at international conferences, further solid-
ifying her position as a leading authority in her field. Additionally, she has mentored and supervised twelve PhD students, five MPhil students, and more than 200 Master's degree candidates, guiding them through the successful completion of their disserta-
tions. Her research focus includes procurement, logistics, and transport.

Her leadership experience is equally impressive. Before her appointment at Great Zimbabwe University, Professor Tukuta served as the Executive Dean of the School of Entrepreneurship and Business Sciences at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) for eight years. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in the growth of the School, launching several strategic business units that advanced the university’s mission. She also spearheaded research and innovation initiatives, securing seven patents, seven industrial designs, and five copyrights in collaboration with PhD and MPhil students.

As a leader and mentor, Professor Tukuta is dedicated to fostering a culture of academic excellence and research-driven innovation. Her new role at GZU presents a significant opportunity to further enhance the university’s strategic vision in industrialisation, business development, and strategic partnerships. Beyond her professional achievements, Professor Tukuta is a devoted mother to her daughter, Levina, who is a lawyer. Her ability to balance academic success with family life exemplifies her commitment to both personal and professional fulfillment.
