Welcome to Student Counselling and Advisory Services
The Counselling and Advisory Services are dedicated to helping students navigate personal and emotional challenges while fostering emotional resilience. We provide a supportive environment that aids undergraduate students in transitioning to and integrating into a fulfilling university life. Our goal is to promote healthy functioning that extends beyond university years, allowing students to achieve their academic and personal potential.
We offer free and confidential interventions to assist all students in addressing a wide range of concerns, including:
- Personal health and psychological issues
- Interpersonal and intrapersonal challenges
- Academic pressures and financial difficulties
- Family matters, including illness and bereavement
- Developmental concerns such as relationships and anger management
- Transitional issues like separation anxiety and phobias
- Anxiety and suicidal thoughts
- Cultural and abilities/disabilities diversity
- Sexual and reproductive health topics
- HIV and AIDS information and support

We offer a range of confidential services designed to support students in their personal and academic journeys:
- Individual Counselling Sessions: One-on-one support tailored to meet individual needs.
- Group Counselling Sessions: Collaborative interactions that foster supportive connections among students with shared interests, offering valuable experiential learning opportunities.
- Workshops: Focused on addressing common campus challenges, including substance abuse, sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, depression, and anxiety management.
- E-Counselling Services: A short-term email support option for students dealing with overwhelming personal issues, such as stigma and discrimination.
Our Counselling Services Office collaborates closely with other support centers, including the Chaplaincy, Health Services, Departmental Chairpersons, and Faculty Deans, to provide comprehensive and effective support for all GZU students.
