Student Accommodation
There are two primary types of student accommodation: University halls of residence and privately rented accommodations.
University Halls of Residence
This category is divided into three locations:
1. On-Campus Residence: This includes halls situated on the Mucheke campus and Mashava campus, primarily intended for undergraduate students. Students must apply for accommodation through the student portal before the academic year begins. Due to high demand and limited space, allocations are made via first come services, and only registered students are eligible.
2. Zimdef Flats Complex: Located in Rujeko, right next to the Flamboyant Hotel, Zimdef Flats offer comfortable and convenient accommodation for students. With a capacity of 22 female residents and 16 male residents, our flats provide a welcoming environment for those pursuing their studies. Experience a supportive community and easy access to local amenities, making your stay both enjoyable and productive. Explore all that Zimdef Flats has to offer!
Warden and Sub-Wardens
The Warden has a loco-parentis role, offering primary counseling and guidance to residents and referring cases that require special attention. Each residential area has sub-wardens, who are appointed for the academic year and are typically senior undergraduate or graduate students. Reporting to the Warden, sub-wardens ensure that daily university responsibilities are met, monitor residents’ compliance with regulations, and maintain a clean environment.
Off-Campus Privately-Owned Rented Accommodation
With a significant shortage of space in University halls, many students seek privately rented accommodations. To assist in this process, the University advertises for housing opportunities within the local community. While the University does not manage these rentals directly, it provides valuable information about available options to prospective tenants. The arrangements are private between landlords and students, but the University conducts regular checks to ensure that living conditions remain suitable and supportive for all students.
